All the President's Men (1976)
Last Friday, Brother and I sat to watch All the President's Men as scheduled. Some of it was good. Some of it was bad. Some of it was awesome. On the whole, ATPM was underwhelming. The filmmaking is fine. But it's impact has not aged well. Let's dive in.

Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
So, I been feeling real bad about getting DVDs from Netflix and then taking forever for watch them. Real bad. Even though thats what Netflix sells itself on. So, ZDT was scheduled on release and I thought I'd just get a copy for myself so I could have it and watch it at my leasure. And it arrived today and watch it I did. Probably have to watch it again. But let's get into my first impressions.

Detective Story (1951)
This movie was on the other night and I got sucked in. The premise looked good and it had Kirk Douglas. So it had to be a winner, right? No. No, no, no! By the end of the movie, I regretted having sat sat down to watch it, feeling my evening had been wasted.

The Drug Wars: Camarena (1990)
I'm going with the much cooler title used at the beginning of the movie, which is also the English title over in Europe. Anyway, TDW had been on the queue over at Netflix for awhile. For one reason or another, it finally got to the top and then into my mailbox. I wasn't doing anything else last night, so I popped it in.

Mike Nichols
It's a wonder how he was doing The Graduate and then over ten years later, he does the same basic way of filmmaking with Silkwood and then only like six years later, he comes up with a polished, extremely good film from a storytelling standpoint with Working Girl.

Silkwood (1983) - Commentary
Brother pages: It's like there's two sides of you. One side is a bitch who flashes people and the other one is like you are right now and I love her.

Silkwood (1983)
Brother and I stayed up to watch Silkwood tonight. And I'm glad we did.
Not only was it the first time I'd seen the movie all the way through,
but it was also the first time I'd really seen much of the movie at
all. I have to say, I'm pretty blown away. Silkwood is by no means a
masterpiece. But some of it is very hard hitting. And I like the
characters and performances. And believe me, there were a lot of good
performances. If nothing else, Silkwood is quite a who's who of actors
for the last thirty years.
